We’re back in the running of the good race.
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
And being here in Santa Rosa is a good place to be running. We want to thank so many of you for prayers and words of encouragement. Also, congregations and dear friends who have come through for us financially – we are so very grateful. We count you among our many blessings.
As we consider Jesus our supreme example we also acknowledge you who have given us so much. You have helped us not to become weary or lose heart.
So, we’ve been back for a little over a week and we’re all back into the routine of random busyness – and there is even ‘a break’ from some of the regular activities. Suffice it to say we are seeing a lot of “God-things” and it is very good.
Lowell is in the middle of his projects, has been able to be a part of 3 great meetings – the first with the local church, then the area-wide congregational planning meeting, and finally the Mission Upreach team and boy of boy, it looks like a wonderful year of the Lord for this area of Occidente!
Jacob got right back into his school work, started hanging out with friends – here at the house and of course, futbol (soccer) in the park. Also, youth night at the church building was Saturday. A good group came over here on Wednesday evening for popcorn and Wii.
Our home has had people coming and going and that means the usual for me – making them feel ‘at home’ with coffee, cookies or whatever is on hand. When someone comes to your home you prepare to relax because they’ve come to stay for awhile. The cake I made last Monday came in handy a few times.
Then together, we have started painting our extra rooms – a bedroom and a bathroom. Also, we got to a part of the cleaning the building Sunday morning – that was very special because 2 of our older sisters in the church, Olympia 1 and Olympia 2, were there to help and they were an absolute inspiration to be around. Then, too, we got to be a part of the medical brigade yesterday at La Lima where a church was newly planted. We rode the bus with our teammates and the Honduras translators and the whole day was great. (6:30 am – 5:30 when we finally got home.) Tonight and the rest of the week-end we will attend a seminar on “Conflict Resolution” which is being offered by the church as an outreach to our community.
Yep, I do believe we are back in the running.
